Do you know our Delaware Constitution?
Our current Constitution was completed on June 4th, 1897.
Did You Know that Delaware has had four Constitutions, with our current Constitution completed on June 4th, 1897?
I recently completed a course taught by the Institute on the Constitution, entitled: A Comprehensive Study of the Delaware State Constitution.
In the role of representative for the people of our 25th District, I more fully understand the limits and intention of this role within our civil government. The roles are well defined in Article II: Legislature - the structure and responsibilities of the Legislative Branch.
We must ensure that the responsibilities of the Legislative Branch are fully understood and the limits set on the authority of the General Assembly based on our Delaware State Constitution.
I will be highlighting aspects of our constitution and welcome your questions and feedback. As a starting point; here is the Preamble of our DELAWARE CONSTITUTION:
Through Divine goodness, all people have by nature the rights of worshiping and serving their Creator according to the dictates of their consciences, of enjoying and defending life and liberty, of acquiring and protecting reputation and property, and in general of obtaining objects suitable to their condition, without injury by one to another; and as these rights are essential to their welfare, for due exercise thereof, power is inherent in them; and therefore all just authority in the institutions of political society is derived from the people, and established with their consent, to advance their happiness; and they may for this end, as circumstances require, from time to time, alter their Constitution of government.
I encourage you to please take some time to review the full version of our State Constitution online at:

ALL just authority comes from the consent of the people.
